The Williamsburg Winery, Ltd., founded in 1985, carries on a Virginia tradition that began when the first English settlers arrived at Jamestown in 1607. The 18th-century styled Winery buildings, two miles from the Historic Area, are surrounded by over 50 acres of vineyards.
Professionally guided 30-45 minute tours through the Winery, museum and underground barrel cellars explain the wine making process, from viticulture, harvesting and crushing, through fermentation, aging and bottling as well as the history of the Winery.
Visitors enjoy a tasting of seven wines after the tour and receive an etched tasting glass.
The unique tasting room features exclusive wine accessories, gourmet gifts and selected Virginia and imported wines. Visitors are welcome to enjoy lunch at the Winerys Gabriel Archer Tavern daily and dinner on Friday and Saturday.
Tour and tasting reservations are recommended for groups of eight or more.
Location From Route 31 (Jamestown Road) in Williamsburg take Route 199 East. Turn right onto Brookwood Drive then left on Lake Powell Road for one mile. Two miles from the city of Williamsburg.
Hours 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday – Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The last guided tour begins at 5:00 p.m. Guests under 21 years of age may take the tour free of charge, but may not taste any wines. Admission Required.
